 FO GUANG SHAN NAN TIEN TEMPLE
2010 SHORT-TERM MONASTIC RETREAT

1. Purposes:

To provide lay Buddhists an opportunity to learn traditional Buddhist etiquette, to experience monastic lifestyle and to cultivate the mind and the body

2. Classes: lecture and practice

3. Date: 14th ~ 18th December 2010 (Every three years)

4. Venue: Fo Guang Shan Nan Tien Temple, Wollongong NSW AUSTRALIA

5. Requirements:

    a. Must have right understanding and right beliefs on Buddhism
    b. Must be willing to accept the experiences of the Buddhist monastic lifestyle
    c. Must be in good mental and physical health
    d. Must be between the ages of 12 – 65 without supervision

6. Max Number of Attendees: 120

7. Fee:

    a. Registration Fee: Non-BLIA Members $160, BLIA Members $120, Student $100, must be paid when lodging the application form.
    b. Education Fee $300, provided by Nan Tien Temple. The full amount has to be payed if withdrawing after the retreat commenced.
    c. Living Expenses $500, provided by Nan Tien Temple. (Donations are welcomed)
    d. Robes may be borrowed from the temple, Landry fee $10, please provide your own Arhat shoes (may be purchased from the temple)
    e. Please bring some golden coins for operating the laundry machine

7. Enrolment:

    a. Date: From now and until max number of attendees is reached.
    b. Procedure: Fill the application form and agreement. Please hand in the filled forms and application fee to Nan Tien Temple or any Fo Guang Shan branches. Applicants will be notified for an interview
    c. Attachment: Please lodge a photocopy of your I.D. (student card, ID card, or driver’s license), autobiography (approx 200 words, those who have joined the retreat before are exempt from the autobiography), 2 passport size photos, and registration fee with your application form
    d. A confirmation notice will be given if the application has been successful
