Ullambana Festival    Offering to the Sangha

Place:                     Main Shrine, Nan Tien Temple
Date:                      22 August 2010 (Sunday)
Time:                      10:00 AM & 1:00 PM

Ullambana Festival is an annual celebration, which allows people to make offerings to the Sangha Community.  Your generous donations will help support the Sangha in their continuing efforts in spreading the Dharma through education, charity and cultural events. We invite you to give generously because offerings to the Sangha can accumulate great merits for the contributors.  The merits of giving generously to the Sangha would gain you great benefits and wisdom. Or, you may also transfer the merit to your deceased parents or elders.  There was a story during Buddha’s time where one of his disciple, Maudgalyayana‘s mother was suffering in hell.  Because of his filial piety he could not bear to see his mother suffering, so he went to Buddha for help.  Buddha taught him to make offerings to the Sangha Community. Eventually, his mother was released from hell and was reborn in other realms.

This Ullambana festival will commence at 10 am 22 August which includes chanting, offerings to the Sangha, cultural performances and transfer of merits to the contributors. In the afternoon, chanting will start at 1 pm and the merits of chanting will be transferred to the deceased ancestors.

All are welcome to participate!
