慈悲伟大的佛陀！
请您接受我呈献的一盏心灯，
远古的人类因发明火炬而走出洪荒，
千年的暗室因点亮油灯而顿生光明
暗巷的行人因路灯照明而产生勇气。
灯，实在是太重要了！
然而世间上千万盏的灯光，
都不及佛陀您的千万分之一，
因为晦暗的世界，
唯有佛日才能增辉；
因为迷蒙的人心，
唯有法灯才能照亮。
由于您降诞于世间，示教利喜，
点亮了真理的明灯，
从此，苦海里的众生有了得度的希望，
娑婆界的有情喜获得救的未来；
多少人从痛苦的牢笼中解脱，
多少人从热恼的火宅中超拔。

慈悲伟大的佛陀！
我现在奉献给您的心灯，
无形无相，
它是从我法身慧命里点亮的火炬，
它是从我法身真如里燃烧的心情。
希望能够得到佛陀您的加持，
祈求我这盏心灯，
能够照彻恒河沙数的世界，
能够庇护三界九有的众生。
因为，这盏灯是我的真如自性，
这盏灯是我的法身慧命。

慈悲伟大的佛陀！
难陀女 所布施的贫女一灯，
承蒙您为她授记：
将来成佛的名号为灯光如来；
比睿山上的不灭之灯，
多少年来也一直燃放着光明。
我要向佛陀您表白，
今天我奉献此灯，
不为自求，只希望大家都有光明灿烂的未来，
只希望大家都有共成佛道的一日。
我要再一次祈求佛陀您的加被，
让我这盏灯能够化为无尽灯，灯灯相映，
为人类点燃明日的希望。

在这个世界里，
还有许多人需要您赐给他们回头转身的明灯；
还有许多人需要您赐给他们反观自省的明灯；
还有许多人需要您赐给他们敦厚诚信的明灯；
还有许多人需要您赐给他们信心坚强的明灯。
这些都祈求您的慈光加被，
让大家都能早日点亮心灵的明灯，
让大家都能及时找到自我的本性。
希望大家都能光光相照，彼此互惠；
希望大家都能灯灯相续，尽未来际。

A Prayer for the Offering of Light
‍Oh great, compassionate Buddha!
Please accept the offering of the lamp of our minds;
In ancient times, humankind moved forward
From a primitive state through the discovery of fire;
Thereafter, a thousand-year-old dark room could be instantly brightened
By the lighting of a lamp;
Ships navigating in the night could identify directions
By signals from a lighthouse;
Pedestrians in dark alleys could walk without fear
By the illumination of street lights.
Light is indeed very important!
However, the tens of thousands of lights in this world
Cannot compare to even a small fraction of yours!
For only the Buddha’s light can add brightness to this gloomy world,
Only the lamp of the Dharma can illuminate confused minds.
Your appearance in this world
To reveal the Dharma and benefit us with joy
Has lit the light of Truth;
From that moment on,
All beings in the sea of suffering have the hope of being rescued;
All sentient beings in the world have joyously obtained
the prospect of being liberated.
Many people have freed themselves from the prison of sorrow;
Many people have escaped the flaming house of torment.

Oh great, compassionate Buddha!
The lamp of our minds that we offer to you now
Has no form or image;
It is the torch illuminated
From our Dharma-body and the life of wisdom;
It is the state of mind ignited
From our all-embracing Dharma-body.
We pray for your blessings, Buddha;
May the lamp of our minds
Illuminate all of the numerous worlds;
May the light of our hearts
Bless and protect all sentient beings:
For this lamp is our suchness and Buddha Nature,
For this lamp is our Dharma-body and the life of wisdom.

Oh great, compassionate Buddha!
Much indebted to your prophecy,
The light offered by the poor woman Nanda
Enabled her to attain Buddhahood
And become the future Dipamkara Buddha;
The eternal light on Mount Hiei in Japan
Has continued to shine all these years.
We would like to express this clearly to you, Buddha,
That today we are here to offer this lamp not for ourselves,
But in the hope that everyone
Will have a bright, glorious future,
In the hope that everyone
Someday will attain Buddhahood together.
Again, we would like to pray for your support, Buddha:
May this light of ours be. transformed
Into countless lights that shine on each other
To light up our hope for a better tomorrow for humankind.

Oh great, compassionate Buddha!
In this world,
There are people who need you to grant them
The light to turn over a new leaf;
There are people who need you to grant them
The light to self-examine and reflect;
There are people who need you to grant them
The light of honesty and trust;
There are people who need you to grant them
The light of faith and fortitude.
They are all praying for the blessing of your light of compassion.
May everyone ignite the light of the heart soon;
May everyone discover the true Buddha Nature;
May everyone shine on each other and benefit each other;
May everyone shine on forever into the boundless future.
